The project has been inspired by recent public debates within the framework of the more general discussion on Bulgaria’s future and its competitive capabilities as one of the newest members of the European Union. Recognising education as a strategic area in this debate, the project seeks to present the positive UK experience in building up a competitive university in which the enterprise is being embedded into academia, thus creating a wealthier and socially inclusive environment. In this sense, the current project will contribute to raising public awareness in Bulgaria on the need of intensive partnership between industry, business and academy. Furthermore, the project considers ways in which university officials and senior managers can collaborate in reforming the currently established university management structure, so that it becomes a more flexible, attractive to investors and a more competitive one. In this respect, the project focuses on the true dimensions of implementing entrepreneurial practices into the higher educational system in Bulgaria.
