In April ABCS took part in the First South East Europe Chevening Alumni Conference, held in Belgrade and organised by the Chevening Society in Serbia with the kind support of the Chevening Alumni Project Fund of the FCO.

 

The conference was a wonderful opportunity for  representatives of the Chevening organisations of all the SEE countries to meet, exchange ideas and discuss the topic of "European  Integration as a Vehicle of Reform in the South East Europe: The Role for the EU/British Investors". 

 

Nine countries altogether participated, and five of them, who already have formal Chevening associations, signed a Protocol on cooperation. A joint briefing paper is to be produced and presented to HMG ministries. 

 

We hope that this is only the first in a series of regional conferences for Chevening scholars!
