Event: Reform in the Judical System Debate
The first event organized by ABCS was the debate about the judicial reform in Bulgaria. It was held on September 26th, 2005 and its aim was to give a forum to representatives of the judicial, executive and legislative powers – members of the Supreme Judicial Council, members of Government, members of Parliament, the judicial professional unions, experts and lawyers, and to gather different views and opinions on the subject that can contribute to the common goal of successful completion of the judicial reform in Bulgaria. The debate was divided in two parts: a discussion panel “Fight against corruption in the judicial system” and “Effective pre-trial phase of criminal proceedings” and was moderated by eminent Bulgarian journalists. It was the first in a series of similar events, aiming to provoke a broad professional discussion on issues of public importance and areas of crucial significance for the process of Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union.
Event: UK's perspective on Bulgaria's Accession to the European Union
